Singing A Song Of Gift Baskets....
Ma & Pa Shop
Ma and Pa Shop
WHAT IT IS:
According to one dictionary:
A ma and pa shop is a family-owned independent business.
HOW IT WORKS:
For example, franchises and big-box stores such as Walmart, Target are not "Ma and Pa" shops. The small store down the street, with a local owner, is a ma and pa shop.
What's The Point and WHY IT MATTERS:
Ma and Pa shops are often single-location stores, often retail stores, food or hardware, that are small or carry speciality items. The advent of big-box stores, which can usually buy and sell at lower prices, has displaced many ma and pa shops, which do not have the same competitive advantages and thus often cannot compete on price with most retailers. Accordingly, they often compete on service, in other words: Good customer service " That Personal Touch! or The Aim To Please Slogan!.
Someone viewed one of my product pictures on one of my business platforms. He commented as they all are encouraged to do if they wish, in short, he said the basket looked cheap, homemade worth less than $30.00. I thanked him for his positive criticism and told him, I would consider his comments in our next design and we will! I thought to myself all our baskets are custom made according to our customer's wishes, likes or needs. At times some baskets may not be what you call "Polish or "Picture Perfect!
This theme Ma & Pa, came to mind along with the viewer's comment. In short, I am a "Ma & Pa business and we are happy to carry the title.
What about your business?.
Staying In Business As A Small Gift Basket Company
Staying in business as a small gift baskets company requires that I work harder, sometimes I get the “Don’t care attitude” or “If I fly I fly or If “I sink I sink”, then the phone rings,an order comes thur and we re-group. The drive is back, along with applauds from our customer. Small business owners will tell you that the business can be tiresome and challenging. How do Baskets Galore by Sylvia hang-in there since 2004! despite the challenges of being a “SMALL BUSINESS”.
1. Stay informed and up-to-date about your type of business industries
2. Be creative or learn the art of being creative (anybody can made a gift basket,

Baskets Galore Blog by Sylvia
Custom Gift Baskets From Jacksonville Fl
I start off this blog by saying: If I have it to do all over again, opening a gift basket business is something I wouldn't do. Why do I say that? "Well", it's more to this business, than creating a gift basket, there is a real business behind the scene of basket making. Business name, location, taxes, taxes and more taxes, business licenses, business/office setup, marketing and "Yes" let's not forget websites, website optimization and on it goes. Learn the business and learn the laws in your local area, they are different from city to city. Why do I stick with it? "Well" I love to create! and so the work continues...
